The 7R D4D is made in France....power shift, LGP (1973)
#503 uses the D330c up to 7R508 then changes to 3304 (48V)
Unit would most closely compare to the US 83J prior to #2177.
Capacities are:
Cooling sys.......8 Gal.
Crankcase.........5 Gal.
Transmission....10 Gal.
Bevel Gear.........4 Gal.
Final Drives.......2.5 Gal. ea.
Fuel tank...........42 Gal.
Hydraulic control system....6.5 to 8.5 Gal.
At the time all compartments used SAE 30 for above 32 deg. F. operation
except for 10w in the hydraulic control system.

I am having problems with my left steering clutch. when i pull the lever, it goes to a detent and stays without activating the steering clutch. is this due to low or no fluid for the left steering clutch. the right sides steers peoperly. is that fluid seperate from the left final drive or is it the same resevoir?

Steering clutch compartment and clutches are dry, there is no hydraulic assist, just mechanical linkage and spring assist. Final drive compartments are separate. Have you run through the steering clutch adjustment procedure?
No, i have not. when i purchased the unit, the previous owner said there was an oil leak that was putting oil on the brake mechanism. the left brake was always weak. i was running as i have been for 3 yrs and then next time i started it, no left steering clutch. I was under the impression that the oil was coming from a hydaulic assist umit and that it was dry. I guess i was wrong.
i do have the JenSales Operators, Parts and Service manuals, but the pictures showing the operator area show the steering levers on the dash and mine are on the floor. I will read the service maual more thoroughly and see if i can get the clutch adjusted.

If it's been that long have you removed the steering clutch compartment drain plugs and drained off what ever oil and water that might have accumulated.
Usual source of leakage is past the pinion drive flange seal, takes out the brakes and eventually seeps into the clutch plates. Can also foul things up so that they don't engage properly.
No Old Magnet, i have not done anything with it. YES, i know i should be draining it etc. I did open the inspection covers under the seat and everything there seemed to be in place. right now when the left steering lever is pulled it cams over center and stays in place not activatinfg the clutch itself. Undortunately for me, i do not have the tools to undertake a m ajor teardown of this magnatude. Right now i have another problem, i overtightened the hydraulic track adjuster and am not sure how to relive the pressure. My Jensales manuals that i have show me how to remove and install the adjuster, but not how to djust it. They refer to the Lubrication & Maintnance manual, of which I do not have. Des anyone out there have one or could point me in the right direction to obtain one.

Some of the hydraulic adjusters will have a plug that can be loosened to relieve the pressure, usually not too far from the zerk that you pump grease into. Others have the zerk going into a one way valve/bushing that must be taken out to relieve the pressure. Take a close look at yours and remove the zerk fitting carefully. .if no grease comes out look for either the relief fitting. .or carefully remove the bushing the zerk is threaded into.
