I am lost, but will guess any way. This is the front timing cover? Cat like threaded hole like the one showing top right. Put bolt in and use as pusher. But since I am only guessing that could be where they used a dowl to line things up.
But the real go to is the service mans reference book by Cat. Hopefully there is one in the library here if you are a paid member.

Hi Farm, you may need to remove the front row of bolts on the oil pan as well they possibly go thru the pan into the front cover, the bearing weld it a bit and shrink it if you can't access to knock out with punch, I know the later engines do have location dowels as Ray 54 suggested, this era of motor I don't know for sure, I hope it goes well, cheers

I just determined I don’t need to remove the plate.
It must be installed during manufacture and never designed to be removed.

Testimonials

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
