Good Morning. I have the operators and maint. manual for this machine. To adjust the steering brake it shows taking the plate of the back below the fuel tank and turning the nut for adjustment. Ok I got that. But where is the screw and locknut located to finish the adjustment. The picture shows the man adjusting the screw but where is it at on the machine? I hope its not in the hole where the nut is... that would be tough.

Make the brake adjustment through the top cover under the seat, don't be tempted to stamp on the brake and try it before putting all the cover bolts back, you can bend the anchor plate and damage the casing on some early D4D and 951 machines.
The support bolt and lock nut is underneath, wind the bolt in (not too hard) until you can feel it pushing the brake band against the drum, then back it off about 3/4 of a turn before tightening the lock nut. This is the adjustment which gets missed and allows the brake band to wear out at the top only if not done.

when you say "underneath'" do you mean the plate under the seat or under the tractor?

Finally a question that I *think* I have an answer for on here :eyebrows:

Underneath is bolt "3" on the diagram

You got to climb underneath the backend
