Just bought a D4d serial 84J360. Brakes are way out of adjustment or need replacing. How do I look at the adjustment? Are these simple brake bands like the older D4’s?
The one I have operated, remove a plate under the fuel tank and the brake band is right there. The head of the adjuster is on top of the band. But the machine with no history you need to check screw that is under the band as well. It carries the band, so the top is not dragging. So time to look for the Operators Book and a Parts Manual as well as the Serviceman Book for your serial number. And since I have only been around the one model, other could be different.
