Started to address the turning issue with the D4. Steering clutches work great, right steering brake not so much. Took 4-bolt plate off right back and found non-attached lining floating around. Band assembly is loose and probably could just be adjusted, however, the upper lining has separated from the band. Everything else looks good, some sand in the bottom of the box.

Anyway, anybody know a good place to get the brake band assembly. My downloaded parts manual calls for part number 7H3922. I tried CAT's online search and it took me to another number 8Y-6304. Not 100% sure that's correct, however, might have to give up a kidney to buy that set.

I know they can be re-lined and may go that route..

Any insight would be great. Other than this, the Cat is a great dozer so-far.

Thanks,

Any good clutch and brake shop should be able to fix you up and more than likely the brake pads will be bonded to the bands instead of riveted.

These are riveted, but I can not see why they separated through the peep hole. Have to wait to get out. Then condition.

I meant the new linings provided by the shop will be bonded.

Testimonials

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
