I have a D47U with a Hyster Winch. The Hyster documentation indicates that the D4's final drive should be lubricated via two pluged holes on the winch, but no indication is given as to how to check the final drive oil level. Any insight wouild be appreciated.

Hi Team,
as said above with the machine on level ground you fill fill the F/D's thru the left and right plugs in the slightly central and higher positions from the bottom of the rear faces of the winch case--the lower right plug is for winch oil drain.

The fill process is slow due to the length and lack of slope cast into the case ports but when oil comes back out as quick as you can refill it, the F/D's are full--oil level will be correct when oil drips back out when the oil level is at the bottom of the F/D fill plug threads.

Link is to what should be your winch manual from Allied/Hyster. Pages 10 and 11 of the book tell of plugs E being the F/D level plugs.

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
