Hello everyone,

Removed to get it working and just need to obtain wisdom regarding getting everything timed properly when I install.

I am guessing, get #1 cyl at or near TDC, line up flywheel timing mark, confirm all is well at the inspection plug, locate timing mark and mag and install?

Then......... where to index the multi splined rotor? My thought was pick either contact point on the cap and index to match that, then ensure whichever one is selected, it becomes cylinder #1?

Thanks for your insight and wisdom,

Breadler

Hi Breadler, on my Wico XH, the plug numbers are identified on the distributor cap and #1 socket is closest to the left side as you sit in the operator's seat which is #1 cylinder (the side with the choke and throttle controls). It doesn't really matter though because you can turn the magneto 180 degrees and move the wire to the other socket

had that fun with our d4 fitted new leads thought you would uses the closest out put terminal. i was wrong it was the other way round. after much swearing and head scratching trying to test run it, it was decided to swap them round and viola away it went.

oh and they need the traditional copper crimped on ends. i tried some very nice twist on ngk insulated plug ends that i got from a motorcycle shop and they wouldn't work. put crimp ends on and no problem just watch you dont brush em with ya hand at 3000 rpm they bite very well.

instead of perfection some times we just have to accept practicality

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
