I’ve only had it a short time, installed electric start motor on the pony it runs great. Diesel fly wheel is engaged and turning, however when I move the decompression rod from start to run fan blade (diesel) stops turning.  Also before the pony hand clutch would cam over when being engaged, now it does not. Diesel is turning while decompression is in the start mode, but I have to hold the pony clutch handle engaged or the diesel stops turning.  The triangle part of the hand clutch is moving back and forth when viewed from the inspection cover there.  What have I broken?

Suggestion-start with the starter pinion latch screws. Try to get them equal and adjust 180 degrees at a time each screw. You probably already know this, but let oil pressure build up before kicking over on compression.

Keep safe.

Thank you dependzic! I adjusted the pony clutch per the operators manual, went three holes. Works great now, diesel fired easily.

Whoops….I misread thinking you were holding onto pinion. Good work!

Keep safe.
