Can anyone help me with the part number for the glass bowl, seal and brass valve as fitted to the Zenith fuel filter / valve assy in the bottom of the D4 6U pony motor fuel tank. What type of material makes a good gland seal on these valves?
My engine serial number is 6U8564 and my parts book is for the earlier 5Us.

Thanks,
John

Gland packing....in a pinch, teflon tape............best is string for faucet stems with graphite in it ...........doesn't take much. Does the valve shut off completely?
D2-5J's, D6-9U's, D318 and D333 power units, 12E-99E grader, 922B & 944A wheel loaders, D330C generator set, DW20 water tanker and a bunch of Jersey cows to take care of in my spare time😄

Those parts are available from your local Cat. Dealer, but they are not cheap, I don't have a 6U Parts Number book, but my D4 5T book says the bowl is 9B4514, Gasket 9B4519, Valve Assembly 9B4510, that's a starting point.

Cat. Dealers have previously sold the complete tap with bowl for around $150 from memory, I'd suggest you call Tilly's up at Toowoomba and see if they have a aftermarket version. I just bought some new one's off Fleabay in the USA for about $18, I'm figuring I might need an adapter or two to make the threads work, but hey, a extra $5 I can live with.
regards
Mike

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
