I am ready to install the armrest, bottom, and the back of the seat on the D4. It has the fuel tank seat how do I install the backrest to the fuel tank. The old seat is no longer, so before I start getting creative with installing this new one just wanted to first know if there are any tricks or pictures that people could share with me on how others have been installed. Any tips, tricks, or advice will be much appreciated. 😊

Believe there should be two metal brackets with key hole slots to mesh with the buttons welded to the tank, they slide down to lock to position. If someone has a sketch with dimensions I would be interested in a copy.

I believe John Hahn has the metal straps in stock for the seat back that your tractor requires. (20😎-553-3787. [email protected]

There should also be two threaded blocks on the tank below the cushion where the straps bolt to.

I slide mine on but don't bolt them on, so that I can take the cushions home at the end of the day.

To attach the metal strips to the plywood backing, you can buy threaded washers with dogs that hammer into the wood to keep them from turning. Mock up where you want the strips and drill your holes. Put the threaded washer on the foam side of the wood over the predrilled holes. Bolt the strips to the seat and they will slide over the buttons welded to your tank. That way you can slide your seat up to remove it when necessary. I use 3/8 bolts and paint the wood with a good primer at least two times. It will last for years.

Thank you all for the suggestions! Very helpful and the threaded blocks are there. I ended up making a strap and using belt hooks at the top this way it would be easy removal

Testimonials

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
