Try starting it with the throttle lever all the way the OPPOSITE way from how you have it now.........just a thought:redface:

If no luck with that, move it back.......HARD. have seen the linkage between lever and engine bind up and the governor lever not come out of shutoff position. May take a good strong tug to get it to move the governor.

Of course you might not be getting fuel TO the injection pump.......
1 no fuel in tank
2 valve turned off or tank outlet plugged
3 fuel strainer or fuel line plugged
4 fuel filters plugged

Check for fuel at top of filter by opening the bleed used to release trapped air. If you have fuel there while cranking the engine, stop and loosen a couple injector line connections and see if you get fuel flowing out there. Fuel will flow to injectors even when the governor is in shutoff position, but none will be injected into the cylinders.

If you have fuel to the injectors but it will not smoke white while cranking, the rack must be stuck in shutoff position.
D2-5J's, D6-9U's, D318 and D333 power units, 12E-99E grader, 922B & 944A wheel loaders, D330C generator set, DW20 water tanker and a bunch of Jersey cows to take care of in my spare time😄

Hi! thank you for the answers.

I now have emptied the tank , changed the filter , new fuel and it comes out fuel before the injectors , but i did loose an injector and drove the engine but it will not comeout anything from the injector may have to test pressing them , when I run start gas in the air filter starts it up a little.
I started the engine 2 months ago and then it started immediately , looked at the hour meter 1946 hrs but i have started it a few times each year

Perhaps you have an internal fuel pump problem?

Stuck rack maybe? Or would this be a sleeve metered engine? Stuck sleeves maybe?
Good luck

Hi and thanks!
It was the rack in the fuel pump that had been stuck in the stop position , so now I have put the governor together, and now runs the engine again it started almost immediately, but i see it leak a drop of oil, but I will fix it tomorrow.

Thanks

The rack is the gear toothed bar that rotates the injection pumps to meter the fuel.

If this is a sleeve metering fuel pump, they are prone to sticking in the shut-off position and breaking the overfueling spring which helps starting.
