D4 track frames

After looking at some D4s in person and in pictures, I noticed the track frames on my D4 look like like back to back C channel. After missing some other things I've started second guessing everything else. Were these common or changed out.

Yes, does look like someone has added "C" channel to the original track frames.
Original frames are a "C" channel but not the common variety......the heavy duty compact channel section is a "car channel" designation. Something left over from railroad rolling stock fabrication I believe.

Not only did prior owner modify the roller frames with extra "C-Channel", they also made a classy "hex" shaped fuel tank.
