I'm guessing the "N" is a "W".

Yep your correct I just noticed that now too under the paint it is clearly a Wv... So that likely indicates wide gauge tractor then? Assuming I can get it running easily, what would it be worth?

well most of my cats i bought not running but complete and that usually get scrap price plus a little how bad do you wont it lol. how hard is it to get at to hall it out that can take some time just getting it ready for a move what do you have to move it with one of the smarties thinks i did was put a Hyd winch on my trailer for halling dead stuff up on to it. as you can see picking this cat up from the auction site when very well but i have a sixty that has frozen tracks and well that took 2 good days and some re figuring. with the way things are in AB right now i don't think it should command too much. the question that is always ask why was it park or it ran when it was park?

Got her hauled home today at the cost of a case of beer, have a friend with a big winch truck so loading it was no problem. We pulled it out of the trees with a tractor and got both steering clutches free... The reason it was parked was because the man who owned it passed away and the kids now decided to clean up the yard. Both engines are free and the under carriage appears recently re done as the pins? Are almost perfectly round and the rollers look really good... They must have reused the pads which have really smooth and perfect shaped holes cut out of them so I don't think they were gas axed out. The reason I think pads were reused is because of the large gap between them...

Looks like snow pads. Holes seem bigger than most. I have never seen pads with factory cut square holes like your picture. Of course I have not seen it all by any means.

Here you go, one with a square hole straight from Caterpillar, 1950. I think the round ones, are more of the fruit jar lid pattern….any way that’s the
way is was in my neck of the woods.

So today I got both stearing clutches unstuck just by draging it around the yard and working the breaks and clutches. The starting engine has the tightest crankshaft I've seen yet in terms of radial and end play and turns over nicely with good compression, fuel system is full of a nice green slime so I didn't try starting it. Diesel engine turns over easily with the decompression lever on but also has a nice amount of gunk in the taink. I haven't found any major issues with it yet other than the dent in the hood from having a tree fall over it and some missing tin work. Being that I'm graduating on Friday this week and then headed over seas to work in a machine shop I won't get to do any work on it until the fall. I'll post more then.

and to clarify the W is for wide right. Also as a shot in the dark any members In Switzerland on here that I could meet up with while I'm over there? Thanks!!😄

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
