Might be caused by junk in the fuel line. I'm a firm believer in installing an inline filter in the pony fuel line.

Or you may be using gas formulated for winter rather than summer and it could be the problem. Most characteristic vapor locks are caused by the fuel pump in the system and of course a fuel pump is lacking in the pony fuel system. Are you using "regular" gasoline or an ethanol blend? Probably maybe overkill but I use non ethanol gasoline and add a lead substitute additive for all the pony fuel.

PS: My pony's always start easier when cold then when hot. One of the reasons I like the electric start pony. :amen::eyebrows::biggrin1:

Not to throw a wrench in your spokes. But you just described the exact problem with a bad coil, warms up and gets no spark. I hope you’re right. I’m not there listening to the engine so you may very well be right just thought I’d let you know that the coil could also be a cause. Good luck.

A bad condensor can do that too - swapping out the condensor is trivial so put that on your list to try. I also had a bad experience with plug wires in my car which had a hot start problem. Changed the wires and it's perfect now. Also a trivial change-out. Try the easy stuff first.

Electrical stuff just makes me pull my hair out, and I do my best to stay away. So for what it is worth.😉

Put new parts in but from many episodes all over the tractor world,DON"T PITCH THE OLD ONES. To many cases people have to put the old stuff back because a 1/4 or more of the "new" China made stuff is no good. As well as praise to what ever higher power you wish to have a electric starter on the pony.

From the guy coast starting a D6 for 2 years. I got help with the mag 2 months latter it was dead again. So on a hill it is 😉 gravity has not failed me yet.

So thank God it is an electric start pony, the electrical side was the first thing I check pulled the plugs out and held it to the block to check for spark and while it's hot it did have a nice big blue spark as it should. I do have an inline filter ( heaven knows I haven't changed it in a while tho) and when I did my rebuild I also had the fuel tank acid etched and epoxy coated the inside by a local radiator shop. Unfortunately it's leaning more and more toward needing another full carb rebuild, I have yet to really try adjusting the fuel screws though. Maybe running to lean when hot? (If that's possible?)

The good news is that the carb is trivial to sort out

-i understand not PITCHING every component of the electrical system automatically, but there are times when you need to thin out the herd to be certain you don't have a bad item....otherwise it gets into the mix again and could be faulty...and you end up chasing your tail again...and wasting a lot of time..

i have a neighbour that has never thrown out any electrical item in his entire life....and he constantly struggles with anything electrical..or anything with spark(gasoline)

-last electrical problem i had was with a gas lawnmower...it would quit when hot...i was changing coils, condensers...finally changed the spark plug(duh).....hasn't missed a beat for 3 years...:couch2:

I think this is your problem. I would not consider using a inline filter on a gravity system unless it was a screen type. Especially a system with so little gravity.

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
