I would like to drain all of the fluids from my D4 6U so that its all fresh. Which oil viscosities go in the various points and what are the capacities?😕 Ive got 30 wt for the diesel and pony, but what goes in the final drives? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

The info. is in the back of the parts book if you have one but anyway it lists the engine for 3 3/4 gal. & trans. at 4 1/2 gal. & the finals at 1 3/4 gal. each side. For the engine always fill up & then start and idle and then while running at idle check the dip stip in the run position and add if necessary to the full mark if not up to it.The finals should take #90 gear lube.

Bit of a shock, this new forum: had to start all over but it is still a wonderful resource.
Steering clutches and brakes have been rebuilt- what a job!!!
Roller and all other bearings were completely stuffed- rust and gunk- think it had been left open before we got it?
My Son was inspecting the radiator through the radiator-cap the other day when a mouse jumped out at him from it indignantly annoyed at being disturbed- think that can't be good... 😕
Anyway, SJ answered the question of oils which was good.
The pony-motor has been an ongoing problem even though it also has been completely rebuilt- goes OK but with not enough guts to start main engine. Replaced carby which seemed a bit dickey and it can surely only be timing and maybe capacitor now?
Thanks for the info

One of the most overlooked lube points is the clutch pilot bearing. .needs a little grease every 250 hours according to the operator's manual.

Barryd. .you stated that the pony lacks power. Does it miss all through the RPM range or just "fall on it's face" when you engage the clutch? A miss due to spark will usually be all through the RPM range. If the high speed adjustment is too lean, it won't wind up much past idle without dying. .or trying to. Just a thought. . . .

Yes it "falls on its face" when clutch is engaged. Hoping the "new" carby will do the trick and if it doesn't its got to be magneto and timing?
Got manuals, at last, with clear instructions on how to run and service the Beast.
Want the bloody thing doing something useful!
Thanks,
Barry
