I inherited an old D4. I'm not sure of the model number... need to check next time I'm out there.

I need to adjust the main clutch as it has gotten very loose and no longer snaps into place.

I have an operators manual for a D2 (not the D4 though!) and it gave the procedure and it shows a little pin at the top near the oil funnel that you pull out and then turn the clutch assembly from the top, easy. But the D4 doesn't have that little pin, and I've seen clues on this forum that instead there is some type of nut on the bottom that needs to be loosened....?

I can go in from the top or bottom, but it sounds like bottom may be easier?

Can anyone provide a 1,2,3 set of instructions for this procedure? thanks!

Also, is there a separate procedure for adjusting the clutch brake, as it doesn't seem to stop when I push the lever all the way forward? ... I have to wait for it about 10-20 secs or so if clutch was dis-engaged in neutral.

I know this topic has been discussed before. I found some other threads on it, where apparently someone had posted instructions (maybe a page from the manual) but I do not see those instructions. I am guessing maybe someone removed them later due to copyright issues or something. That is why I am hoping someone can give me just a quick 1,2,3 set of steps for performing the adjustment, that will not get removed and will be helpful for the next person needing this info!

hello danda , the pic/info get removed because peoples quoter of pic space fills up and they need to remove some so they can post other info ,

Here are pages 77 and 78 from form 12244-7, Operation and Maintenance Instructions, D-4 Tractor. The reference is the first scan. There are no copyright issues when proper credit is given and it is not for gain. You did not say which series tractor you are dealing with.

Thanks for the info guys. I appreciate it. The top cover on mine is square, not trapezoidal. I guess that means it is older and I should go in through the bottom? Kinda funny that the pictures don't show any details when going in from the bottom, only the top.
