Drain wrench for sale on the ACMOC store. Fits in the toolbox just right.
Early plugs were hex type[PIA], the later were 3/4" square, much better. You can use a 3/4" 4" long double nutted bolt also to loosen the hex plugs.
Easy just find a long bolt that the head fits the hex and heat it red hot next to the head and bend it 90d....WA7OPY
You can also use a 3/4 in. drive breaker bar for the square plug.

I use two crescent wrenches. One straight up with the jaws opened to one hex side and the other jaw on the rounded side. Use the other wrench on the first crescent wrench and unscrew it. Works every time.
Yep, the square one is a later-style replacement. You can use a standard ¾" drive tool on that one. Those later-style replacement plugs are available from Caterpillar but are a bit pricey, the last time I asked a few years ago they were $42 ea. I went with this nifty Caterpillar socket part number 212-8146 for @ $30.00. This socket fits the tapered plug properly.

Yup. Much better than a chisel or pipe wrench!
