Hello folks,  I see Henderson sells equalizer bars, what is different about these compared to running a spring?

Hi, Jimmy977.
The equalizer springs went the way of the dinosaurs back in the 1950s and '60s. Since then, solid equalizer bars have been 'the go'. with rubber pads under them.

Hi, ROME K/G.
Unless said equalizer bar breaks - - - in which case there will a SEVERE droop. And I have seen broken equalizer bars in D10s and D11s. Quite a let-down.

Just my 0.02.

You have a wonderful day. Best wishes. Deas Plant.

Ok thanks.  I have a parts cable operated d4 7u loader, serial number approximately 350. I'm thinking about the 5 roller track roller frame swap to a 7u d4 bulldozer.

Hi, Jimmy977.
I don't know if they will switch straight over as I think the track frames on the loader would be rigid mounted but they may possibly still have the equalizer spring too. I just don't know.

There may also be an issue with the sway braces on the blade with the longer track frames. Again, I don't know for sure but suggest that you do your homework.

The track frames are solid mounted. I do believe there will be clearance issues as Deas has said with the dozer frame.

Hi, kracked1.
If my memory serves me right, the back end of the track frames are the same, complete with diagonal brace and outer bearing. What I don't know but strongly suspect whether the rigid mounting on the loader track frames is in the same place where the equalizer spring pockets would be. If that is the case, then he would need to cut off the rigid mountings and fabricate the pockets for the equalizer spring - or bar.

I am not sure if it will work. I have read here of folks considering doing this type of swap. I don't own a D4. I have one locally I plan to purchase this spring. So I'm not aware of how spring mounts exactly. I was thinking I could fabricate a mount that bolts on to track frames where the rigid mount attaches. But I was unaware that spring sits in a pocket, so maybe not feasible.

I was also planning on swapping or modifications to c- frame for clearance of longer track frame. I see the old holt manufacturing c-frames look like they have more clearance in front of track frame.

I dont know if the D2 rigid frame is similar to the D4, but on a D2 traxcavater parts machine that I have the oil pan is different than on regular D2 crawler. You might want to check and see if that also applies to a D4. Just a thought. Grant.

Thanks Grant. So I am hoping to transfer the track frames to a 7u d4. I do have the oil pan from traxcavator. So possibly swap also if needed. I have a picture of D4 7u I'm going to purchase when things dry up in spring. I can't load picture, i can't get any blue line to happen. It has ok undercarriage, I think bottom rollers a done. Needs shoes too. I have the track frames and chains from traxcavator, so I figured I may try this. Traxcavator chains need shoes also, I would consider shoes from a 955 if I could find some. Also I would try for manual angle and hydraulic tilt on this machine. I want it for grading my roads. This d4 I plan to buy also has a carco model A winch on it, which is a bonus also, my property is forested so I chop quite a bit of firewood.
