i have a 7u d4 ser # 6191 and was disking with it today when i stopped the tractor i noticed an oil seep out of the clutch inspection plate on the front side of the clutch housing then i pulled the plug at the bottom and oil came pouring out. so my question is it normal for oil to get into the clutch and how often should i drain it.

also where is the best place to get bearings and rings for the pony motor

Pull your dipstick and check your oil. If it's overfull still, you have diesel leaking into crankcase from the injection housing. Put your fingers into the oil from the clutch housing and see if it has diesel in it. I just went though that with my 7U.

Try florin tractor for the parts I recently rebuilt a pony for my D2 and was able to get bearings and rings from them very reasonably 800-223-9916 Judy is who I usually talk to. As far as the oil in your clutch I am not certain, but some one will chime in soon and tell you what you need to know hope this helps

Oil came pouring out?
Couple of questions: How much and How long ago did you open the drain plug last and Are you going up and down hill?

Reason is there was a Thread a year or so ago about a "U" series that had a leaky rear seal made worse by steep up and down hill operation. There was I believe a comment that there will naturally be some oil over time(?). I would clean the crankcase breather as EDB commented the other day on a leaky rear scroll seal that if the breather is plugged/restricted crankcase pressure will push oil into the clutch area. Agree on the check the crankcase oil odor for Diesel.
