Is there anyway a person can find out where his machine was purchased new, who bought it, how many owners its had?

No, since machinery isn't licensed, really nobody keeps that information in any organized way.

D2-5J's, D6-9U's, D318 and D333 power units, 12E-99E grader, 922B & 944A wheel loaders, D330C generator set, DW20 water tanker and a bunch of Jersey cows to take care of in my spare time😄

the 1 way is to have the bill of sale i have the bill of sale for my big 20 and my 22 they belong to my grandad i have all the records from new thats about the 1 way you can get them or from the person that bought it new or the cat company that sold it new plack on the side i have 2 D2s that way:jaw:👍

Ask your cat dealer or surrounding dealers if anyone has ordered parts for that serial # years back and ask if they have the original purchase order cards.
