You have a wonderful day. Best wishes. Deas Plant.
Hi, Chrismill.
I suspect that if there is something in that transmission rubbing that hard against that dipstick, there is something radically not right in there. I would suggest that you replace the dipstick - or rebuild it to original - - - - - - - - - - - - - AFTER you have investigated and remedied whatever is causing it inside the transmission. It likely won't be cheap but not as pricey now as later when/if the cause makes itself more 'obvious'.
Just my 0.02.
You might pull the guide for the dipstick. Mine had a slight bend in it to keep the dipstick away from the gears. If the guide is installed backwards it will cause a lot of problems. The bend in the guide should be away from the center line where the gears are located.
Thanks for the replies, I was wondering about the guide, I've seen pictures of the dipstick guides that are tilted slightly at an angle. The picture I saw showed the dipstick up by the right brake pedal. On mine(serial#35424) it is located to the right of the gear selector, and the guide seems to be straight.Up by the brake pedal there is a flat plate with 2 bolts where it looks like one could be-
Just to make sure we are on the same page, it is the part inside the transmission that has a bend away from the gears. The guide can be installed both ways with only one being correct.
