I'm not sure what they are called but bolted to the track frame both sides of the front idlers when I bought my dozer there was a wedge jammed in one side it fell out and the track came off all of the guides had about 12 to 15mm of play so now I've welded 10mm plate on both sides and I'm just wondering if the 2to3mm gap will be ok?

Hello Bullet,
Are you referring to the wear plates that fit under the bearing blocks and on top of the rails? Those wear plates should keep the idler square with the track or you will get a lot of wear on one side of the idler. The wear plates allow the idler to move back and forth on the rails. Can you post a pic?

Hi mate
I did mine a while ago and there are shims to go between the bolt on wear block to shim up with little movement side to side as possible but being still able to slide forward and aft as is needed for idler travel . I got mine up to1/2 to1 mm play and shims to get even on each side .... You want the tracks .and idlers to run true not to wear on one side ....You could buy shims or make your own out of tin or steel 1 ,2 or 3mm thick..?? Hope this helps, Rob

Testimonials

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
