I tried a while back to find out if anyone by chance knows who might have the unit with the SN# 7U 20668.
I bought this data plate on Ebay a couple years ago the bronze data plate that must have been on the tractor when built or delivered. If possible I would like to reunite the plate with the tractor.
The bronze cast plate is 7" wide x 5 1/2" high and reads as follows:
Corps of Engineers
U. S. ARMY
Tractor, CRAWLER, DIESEL ENGINE
GROSS WT. 11,810LBS TRACK WIDTH 13IN.
MAXIMUM SPEED 5.4 MPH
MANUFACTURED BY
CATERPILLAR TRACTOR CO
PEORIA, ILL
MODEL NO. D4 SERIAL NO (stamped) 7U 20668
(stamped)CONT. DA 11=184-ENG-0653 DTD '5-'3-52
U. S. REG. NO. (NOTHING STAMPED)
S.I.L NO.
GH1673 (stamped) 76-8112-000-445
If by chance the machine can be located, I think this obviously should be reunited with it.
