hello, my fuel pressure pressure goes up and down into the red with a load, pulling logs,if i stop and wait a bit it builds up into the green again. Would this be caused by clogged filter or is the fuel pump going out? What other cause could there be... thanks for your interest and replies, Jay

Hey D4 4me,

The gauge is telling you it's time for a service on fuel filters. I usually start at the inlet to the transfer pump and clean the check valve and stretch the spring a little. Then pull the filters out of the fuel tower and drain the tower. Give it a good cleaning. Install new filters after filling tower with clean fuel. They are other ways to bleed the system, but your ahead of the game if it's full before sealing it up. Then bleed the air out of tower. Next make sure you bleed the injector pumps on the back side of the injection pump. Next bleed the air out of the injector lines.

Good job on noticing the gauge informing you the fuel filters need attention.

If you have not run out of fuel you don't have to bleed the injectors just make sure you bleed the filter housing before you open the throttle.

lessons learned, I should of relized that the motor smoked less than usual, went from alittle to almost zero, power loss although hard to tell is quite large, ( gained a gear pulling ). Filling the fuel tank is better than air pressure to purge the air out of fuel tower. Always have an extra set of filters on hand. Thanks again to Glenn for his wisdom in solving this problem.:clap2
