I have a D47J that is slobbering oil/diesel out the muffler. I just put new rings in it and I was told to chech the injector pumps. My injectors have been cleaned and checked at a local diesel shop. With the pumps removed my height from the top of the housing to the bottom of the lifter catch is about 1.575 at 25 degrees before TDC. The book shows to be 1.734 at 25 degrees. I checked all four close to the same. How can it be over 1/8 off and still running. Also starts great. I hate to reset at that measurement. Any insight welcome. Thanks, John.

Hi Team,
as Bruce posted, the engine has to be set at TDC and the measurement (Distance "A" 1.734 from the chart for your engine) adjusted from the bottom face of the lifter yoke to the pump top face.
The 25deg refers to what the ACTUAL injection spill timing (Start of Injection) will be when checked with the dimension set as per the above.
Hope this helps.
Cheers,
Eddie B.
