This usually means the fuel pressure relief valve in the inlet housing is jammed up with crud and the spring is rusted away.

Gday. Welcome to the board.
Hi bullet4x4,
welcome along Mate.

Normal working pressure, at High Idle (full RPM) is usually in the range of 25 to 30 psi. if checked with a standard type pressure gauge.

Cheers,
Eddie B.

Hi there Mate, I have a D4 7U ser no. 40767
It s a good idea to drain the fuel pump and clean out the lines and pump ports taking off or out the valve and spring which should have a
rubber grommet on the end of it....... Clean all this out and stretch the spring to make it longer , to give it more closing resistance,ie itll give you more fuel pressure...
Or put a new spring in it ...Good idea to do the filters too as these can get pretty blocked up with crud etc Good luck ..
Im in South Gippsland if you want to ring me Ph 0417359242....
