Just Picked my first cat a D4 4g, Dropped it off at the house this morning, The first injector pump was frozen solid and the fuel rack would not move, Got that fixed, went to change the 4 fuel filters and it turns out they had been removed. Does anyone have a picture or any measurements so i can make up some rods to hold the fuel filters to the lid? what are the original ones made out of? Also about how strong should the springs be that is on top of each rod, it is all missing. Pony engine is not sparking, got the magneto all tore off letting dry out by the fire and going from there on that.

Originals are a type of plastic and tend to be brittle. It doesn't take anything real precise, I have threatened to make some from 1/4" all thread with fender washers and lock nuts top and bottom to retain them. Might have to drill the holes in the top plate a little larger since the original rods were square so fuel more easily flowed around them through the plate. Any spring that takes a couple pounds to compress should do the job.
D2-5J's, D6-9U's, D318 and D333 power units, 12E-99E grader, 922B & 944A wheel loaders, D330C generator set, DW20 water tanker and a bunch of Jersey cows to take care of in my spare time😄

Testimonials

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
