Hi,
My D333C ser 66D01651, a pre combustion model had started smoking and I purchased 6 new aftermarket injector nozzles. This cleared up the smoke and all was good for about 50 hours but now I have constant grey smoke.
Today I took the injectors to get tested. I took the body as well. The mechanic said he was not familiar with this injector. I told him to do the nozzle finger tight on the body. He rightly said prior to testing that it would just leak everywhere. He couldn’t believe that there was no washer between the nozzle and the body. I can’t see one mentioned in the manual or on SIS. Nor was there one there when I removed it.
My questions are
Test with or without the body?
Is there a washer between the two?
Finger tight only? How does the fuel not dribble around this loose connection?
Is the pop pressure 200psi? I’m sure I read it somewhere but can’t find it in the manual.
And it looks like my aftermarket nozzles are “peeing” before reaching 200psi, is a nozzle something I can buy aftermarket or should I have gone genuine?
Thanks ian
There is a fixture that holds the nozzle and the adaptor like it would be in the precup.
Then the test pump is hooked up and pressure checked.
You need to look up break pressure by nozzle number.
A Cat shop or a fuel pump shop should have one.
Good luck
