Thanks Old Magnet for the help. I found some information that cylinder head went 175 on big and 35 on the small bolts. Are these numbers correct? Can the 2 counters shafts be timed from the bottom? I have been trying too find a shop manual, unsuccessfully for a couple of weeks. I am building this motor today, just sat the head on. So thanks for all the help.
Merry Christmas
Head torques are 175 +/- 5 ft-lbs and 32 +/- 5 ft-lbs done in increments with anti-sieze applied to threads.
Balancers can be set from below along with oil pump installation. (attached instructions)
I'm using the D4D service manual for D330C engine information. Should be fairly easy to come up with a service manual. Good luck with the rebuild.

I have looked the bell housing over and have not been able to find a hole for pinning the timing. Any ideas. Thanks
Look under or behind the starter for the pinning plug/boss.
I'll try again with the instructions. Not happy with the contrast/brightness portion of my current software and I'm waiting on shipment of the latest Photoshop 15 version.
The Pin location usually has a blanking plug fitted in it, it is as O.M. already stated on the same side as the starter motor about 3" up from the S/Motor, if you have the front cover off the timing gears all the gears are marked other than the injector pump gear index with the idler gear, tap the dowel flush on the oil pump mounting to aid setting of the balancer shafts, the flats of the shafts should be totally flat if you peg the shafts correctly, there is room to get this detail 1 tooth out easily on the Lanchester shafts, the fly wheel is also marked for the correct position with the crankshaft with chisel marks.
best of luck tctractors
Another try...
Installing those balancer shafts to correct timing is a bit tricky. As you push them up to final fit the gears rotate a bit and it is very easy to get them a tooth out. A good tip from an old cat mechanic saved me getting it wrong. You need to put it up and watch what happens then remove and reset to get them slip in correctly. Looks a tooth out but will roll around as you install. Been too long I cannot remember the fine detail of which shaft moves which way.
Merry Xmas WF
