Acmoc post   I working on d318. I working on 2 different d6 with 318 got a few questions. I looking for a new shaft that turns the fuel rack on in the governor positive locking control group 7F1608 .  Dose anyone know if the shaft is the same in the d311 or 315 governor?  Second question do I have to time the engine before I remove the injection pump to replace the o ring to stop the diesel from mixing with the oil. Or is just good practice to do so .
the end is sheared off as to not tune the fuel on off the dente.

The D4/D315 6U3821-up and D4/D315 7U8136-up use the 7F7610 pawl and 7F2291 plate assembly. 5F8592 is the control part group number.

The shaft, 7F1608 which consists of 8F8605, 5H7152 and 5H7397, was also used on the D311 and D315.

I got the 8B4967 O ring change on the front of the pump to the fuel tower to stop fuel from getting into the oil but I could not find the one on the back of the pump to change. I took the govern off but found no O ring it does not appear that the back of the pump can come off to have behind it but is shown in the parts book. As for timing the engine, there was no need as the pump drive is just a slot and tab so one could only be 180 out. it's all back together and running right now hopefully next time I check the oil it won't have gone up any.

It's the other way round!!! Late pumps do not have the rear seal. Your pump has been changed to the later model.
