I'm thinking of getting the genset Pacatgenny has listed but can't find any reliable source for what it would weight. Looks like it's the full Cat genset with pony motors and Cat generator head and skid. I'd have to haul it back out west and while I'm taking a 20k trailer back with me, I already have a parts truck and other junk to load it with so I'm worried about adding too much weight.

Thanks,
~John

Anyone?

Even a weight for the engine alone would be helpful. Can't find anything online and none of my books have any it.

Thanks.

It's 3500 lbs for the genset, 2450 lbs for the engine.

Does the 3500 lb include radiator?

That's good news, I was figuring 3-5000 lb. 3500 is doable apt barely, anything over that would be too heavy to unload and would be pushing what I want to try and haul that far.

Radiator is an attachment and not included in the weight.

Thats what my book showed as the complete gen set. Why wouldnt the radiator be included? 2450 lbs is for the bare engine without radiator.

Yup, you are correct, radiator is included. But not all gen sets are radiator cooled.

John, the complete D315 genset is a good 6,000 pounds. I bought this one a few years ago and my trusty Clark 5,000 lift will barely lift it reving the gas and jerking the hydraulics. I learned my lesson at the steam and gas show a few years ago that their 5,000 lift wouldn't even get it off the trailer.

Looks like a pretty nice DW6 in the background. Is that the correct decal on the side at the front?

Matt, have you actually weighted it at that or are you just going off the forklift rating? It seems surprising to me that the official shipping weight and actual weight would be that far off. I can see 500-1000 lb for the skid, fluids, etc but nearly double doesn't make sense to me. Could it be that the forklift has weak hydraulics? Appreciate your thoughts, don't get me wrong just doesn't make sense to have that much of a difference.
