What is the difference between a D311 diesel engine & electric set serial number series 4v5001 and a D311 diesel engine & electric set serial number series 7s5001?

The Cat SNID book lists the 7S as just an industrial engine (not a gen. set) and the 4V is listed as an electric gen. set. There would be changes probably in the governor setup and settings in them as I have seen it with other Cat engines used as gen. sets and industrial engines and also there could be a control or two on the gen. sets and not on the ind. ones but ind. sets do have some controls on them.

I got confused looking at the Caterpillar Legendary Service Literature because it shows S/N 4v5001 and 7s5001 under both diesel engine & electric set and again under just engine.

Testimonials

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
