I've got a D311 with a small crack behind the governor somebody patched it years ago with j-b weld or something of that nature (poor job never took governor off patched over paint and all).Has anybody had any experience (good or bad ) with welding or epoxy. also thought about drilling and taping crack and adding set screws as sort of stitching crack so it wont move an getting good epoxy and trying that but if welding or brazing is better I would try that route. What a shame such a sweet little engine low hours too cheep for antifreeze!! Any comments would be appreciated Thanks in advance Scotty

A lot of freeze cracked blocks in that area have been patched with a good epoxy job. V ing and stop drilling is part of the process. Very low pressure involved.

Just curious if the existing patch is leaking or if you just want to clean up the bad looking job for restoration purposes. I certainly agree, using just water never saved any money in the long run. Added a lot of unneccesory corrosion to engines also.

Old patch basically deteriorated and fell off when pressure washing. Pony block also cracked but dosent appear to be leaking at this time going to run motor for a while and see how bad thing leak but going to put motor in 5u D2 if good and want to do a better job on the lock before I swap motors .
