Hello I have just purchased these two sisters that now makes 11 D2’s that I own. Anyone out there have more than 11, do you think I have a sickness lol?
Dude, that is just so wrong! LOL. Yes, I say that you need intervention. Your hoarding abilities have surpassed mine!
Some of us don't like to count, but since you started it, I have only 9 here (I think). Reason being, I have all of my stuff insured, so it is on my Inland Marine coverage sheet. I am a bit heavy on the D4's here too...
Tell us how or why you have more than the majority of us? LOL. Any plans of getting more, before someone tries to out do you?
Do you have a wife? I ask because I had a gal friend that told me NO MORE TRACTORS, so in Juiceman fashion, I got rid of her instead...
Tell us your secrets! JM
JM, does your count include those that may be in-limbo as not in your barn but maybe elsewhere? ( wondering about those special models with a prefix of 3J) - cts
Juiceman, well I Love tinkering on these old Cats I originally bought my first bulldozer to build a pond on my property. Well that was back in 2014 and have I broke ground yet No lol. Since then I have acquired about 20 bulldozers biggest is a D9 19A. I was married but she decided she wanted someone else, I do have a girlfriend and yes she does get jealous of all my Cats but she knows I ain’t stopping for anyone! I for the most part enjoy working on them basically for a hobby I’ve made very little $ with them. If it’s an old Cat I’m pretty interested in it! I guess I need to get a D5 and a D8, I don’t count the D3, then I would have everything from D2-D9, here in a couple weeks I will be getting a couple of D4’s as well! As always save as many old Cats as possible! Cheers Clayton Turnbaugh in central Illinois.
Hi, clayton.
Seems you dunn cort that danged yellow fever pretty good. Well dunn. Happy hunting for the D5 and the D8, maybe, if yer REAL lucky, a 9M D5.
Just my 0.02.
You have a wonderful day. Best wishes. Deas Plant.
Clayton, I am not at all envious of your collection of D2's. I spent way to many hours battling those underpowered, bucking, short coupled, cantankerous critters as a youngster working them. One particular 3J orchard model was the last one I loaded on the lowboy - when it left, I had a huge smile and sigh of relief. I don't mind spending a few minutes in the seat if opportunity presents but to collect them or work them is another story. With your collection of most of the diesel models, time to start searching for the Gas machines. I had a Thirty standard gauge, "sidewinder" (orchard tailseat) for many years that was a working tractor, not showroom but a runner. I have many good memories of that machine. Keep up the collecting and save them from the scrappers. Enjoy the pictures and postings, thank you! - cts
Congratulations Clayton: I am glad there are more of you out there saving these old machines. I’ve been acquiring for the last 10 years, and it’s for the love of the brand. I earn enough from them to keep things afloat.
My original plan was to own from D2 through D9. Never made it past a High Horse D7E here. Multiple variations of each sized machine. Enough revenue earned to keep things afloat here, not about to corner the market on crawlers or get rich.
Tell us about your latest please? I have a TB D2 also. Sadly I just found out the right side steering needs replacement due to lack of use.
CTS will have to fight Breadler over the 3J. I sold the machine to him and proceeds will go towards the chapter savings account.
Thanks for sharing and have fun with your new toys!
haha -- Breadler wins with this contestant not entering the ring! 3J is a nemesis of mine, akin to slapping a bald faced hornet nest to see if anyone is home. I would suggest one thing for Clayton, IF he finds a starting rope that the "pony" likes, keep it under lock and key. Those ropes are few and far between, some just emit bad omens and the "pony" will not run no matter how well you try. - Thanks to everyone, keep up the postings and photos. One fella here enjoys all of them - brings back many memories! - cts
JM -- re: right clutch not releasing -- no problem -- just pretend you are an "air racer flying in the unlimited class", fly low, turn left and go fast! Of course you will have to put a tandem disc behind it to raise the cloud of dust . Could the real issue be too many tractors and only one operator? - cts
