Was pushing loose dirt for a barn and sheared the teeth off main clutch disc. I put this in myself (from general) last year when I did the steering clutches, so it has only about 12 hours on it. was hoping to get a lot more life out of it than that! didn't think I was abusing the crawler, dirt was to top of blade but not spilling over. is there any heavier duty clutch available? thanks for any input,Bryan
I would say check that everything in there runs true with no wobble and if so, chalk it up to a bad disk. Those things last a long time on the power units I have experience with them on. The original in the J series D2 was a steel disk with the teeth cut into the outside and linings riveted on. I think the D2 design might be half thickness of the standard industrial disks but the horsepower is pretty limited compared to those too.
Did you clean the teeth in the flywheel before installing the new one. It would be easy to pull a tractor together with bolts and crack the disk teeth that didn't mesh up with clean teeth in the flywheel ring.
D2-5J's, D6-9U's, D318 and D333 power units, 12E-99E grader, 922B & 944A wheel loaders, D330C generator set, DW20 water tanker and a bunch of Jersey cows to take care of in my spare time😄
