Will 5J tracks fit on a 5U tractor?
Yes, if the 5U is prior to 13273. If it's after that serial #, you'd need to add three to five links depending on options. Post-5U13273 has longer track frames with 33 std links vs. J-series with 30 links
Mine is 5U0928, so a very early version (1948, I believe). I will have to do some measurements to be sure, but they are in better shape than what I have now. I am in the process of rebuilding the steering clutches, so now would be a good time.
Sounds good. Feel free to post some photos : ) We like to ogle machine pictures!
JM, where are located? I ask because I have come across a few salvage D2's in my general area (central NY) with halfway decent tracks, that I have passed on since mine are ok. With you location, members might be able to help you locate some.
CatD2, were any of those Central NY tractors later model ones, post-5U13273? Reason I ask is I'm looking for track frames and I'm in Rochester
Neil,
Yes, I know you've been looking for tracks. It was an ad in FB over the summer, for an older D2 in a scrapyard somewhere. Now, I don't see it any more on FB. I should have posted the link when I saw it, so anyone in need could be alerted. If its any consolation, I think it was a regular frame one.
righto thanks CatD2, I have a terrible memory so I'm sure I'm going to ask you again before too long! : )
Neil,
When I went to my Kindle, I found the saved FB listing. Here it is below. I'm not sure of the year, or even if it is still available, but happy hunting anyway.
