Does anyone know the part number for the bronze bushings in the track roller of a D2 with the bellows seals and are they the same as a D2 with the old lip style seals. I bought a parts book off Ebay and it only shows the old style with the lip seal. I can't emagine that they only show the rollers with the lip type seals, this a 1948 ser# 604 and it has the bellows seals. I ordered a new bronze bushing from this parts book not realizing it had not been updated with the bellows seal type roller and it seams loose on the shaft.

Here's a couple scans from my 5U parts book showing the rollers that were used.

If your question is regarding the difference between the older J series rollers and the newer U series rollers, the bronze bushings between the two are totally different, as well as the bearing caps that house the bushings and seals.

Thanks for the help. I have a # 5U604 and 5U9471 and the second page you sent shows the track roller type that I have with the bellows type seals, The parts book I got off Ebay has this page missing and I get my parts from a satelite office of Cashman Caterpillar in North Las Vegas and he does not have the old books in his computer so we have to use what I have and we keep getting the wrong parts. Too bad these guys that copy the parts books and sell them on Ebay don't copy the all the pages.
Thanks,
Chuck

Just out of curiosity, how much do those little bronze bearings cost from Cat because I need to organise some too. I've been quoted around $US30 a roller here in Oz for new aftermarket bellow seals on my D2 4U.
Thanks

Hello:
I only needed one seal and ended up reusing the bushing because we got the wrong one and the ones in my end caps were not that bad. I bought from Caterpillar to save time (which I didn't). You don't want to buy the seals or bushings from cat. They charge $145.00 each for the bellows seals and $52.00 each for the bushings. If you are going to do more than one and are not in a hurry you best shop around.
Regards,
Chuck

A year ago that bellows seal was $110. The current price increase is proportional to the devaluation of the dollar. Wonder if that's just a coincidence. :confused2:

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
