Can any of you guys give me an idea of how many D2 tailseats were built?

Tail seat tractors were not a standard production model, they were built that way using "attachment" options.

The one I'm looking at has a sp on end of serial number, it' a 1941 model. Was just hoping there were more records available. Thanks

My 1940 tailseat has the SP serial# too. My conclusion after discussion with various people is the same as OM's, the tailseats were a dealer or field conversion...

Hard to get a true definition of "SP". Appears it may have started out as a catch all for attachments later to become just internal transmission and final drive parts. Still tail seat tractors never were assigned separate production numbers.

Great info guys. here's my next dumb question. Does anyone have a picture of what the orchard fenders looked like? On this one the brackets are there but nothing else. Thanks again for helping a gray haired widowed lady that's hooked on cats.:usa2:

I think I spy a precleaner jar under the hood in the second photo?

This one does have the bump in the hood for air. Thanks for the pics, kind of hope this will come home to the litter real soon.

Link to the thread with Wilford the D2...tailseat, not orchard fenders...
I would like to get a pattern for the hood bump sometime, traces of the welds are all that's left where somebody ground it off & put a precleaner above the hood.

Testimonials

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
