As soon as I advance the throttle on the Diesel it puts out a little bit of gray exhaust and disengages the Pony without starting. It worked fine a week ago. Any suggestions.
Are you putting the compression lever on & letting the engine turn for a little bit before pulling the throttle on? If that part is ok then maybe the pinion latches might need to be turned a half or full turn in at the sleeve to raise the time the starting engine is turning the diesel before it kicks out when the diesel starts.Usually this is what,s wrong if it doesn,t start before kicking out.You could try holding the pinion lever up by hand after it snaps in the flywheel & see if it will start then but you,ll need to let go of it at a certain point when it fires & this will tell you if the latches kick out too soon if it starts ok then.Might not hurt to check the diesel valve setting if they haven,t been set lately but may not be your problem but won,t hurt to check them.
