Thermodyne707,
I bought one of the seats advertised on Ebay and sent it back. The company I bought it from understood my reasons and reimbursed me for the whole amount. Now that being said I think my expectations were higher than the product I received. Personally on a 1 to 10 scale the one I got was a 5 and would have been fine if that was what I was looking for in a seat. I finally purchased a seat from ACMOC member John Hahn and it was what I was looking for in quality and comfort. Did it cost more....yes...was it worth it....to me yes.
Opinions are going to vary but I hope the thoughts of one help you decide.
Have a good day....Bill
Thermodyne,
I also have a Hahn seat and although I don't have it fitted yet, it's very high quality and will serve me well. Another member posted his technique for a homemade seat which was basically a rectangle of plywood, some 6" foam (or maybe 8"), and then some of that vinyl, which he just folded over the foam and ply and stapled to the bottom of the ply. It would have taken a half hour and he ended up with what looked like a brand new seat for not many clams. So, you have options from one end of the spectrum to the other.
Thanx for the quick replies ,since I'm not too good at arts and crafts Iam guessing I might have to go with a Hahn seat.does he make them or sell them? And how do I go about getting in touch with him?
And here is what's left of my seat![]()
I copied this from the "Sticky" page of the BB here.

What is a round about price for a complete D2 seat?
Not sure on the D2 as I collect the gas cats. Call him up great guy to talk to
I replaced the seats for my 14A recently. I took a piece of 3/4 inch plywood and laid the old wood seat frame over it. I marked it exactly and also marked where the dowels go. I cut the outline and drilled out the holes for the dowels. I used router to round off the edges of the plywood. I did the same with the seat back and arm pieces using 1/2 inch plywood. My local upholster used high density foam and covered them perfectly for $150.00. Paint the wood with a good exterior primer on all sides before taking them to the upholster.
