I was looking at my D2 U model flimsy rock guards. I believe CAT did not make any sturdy ones for that tractor.

It appears to me that such an animal could be fabricated. Has anyone had any experience doing this? Any advise, suggestions, or comments will be appreciated.

Cat made heavy duty rock guards for both the J and U model d2s, the painted guard is cat and the other is fabricated.

Greg, are the Rankin guards the light or heavy?

Josh,

The guards that I believe George makes are kite-duty and do not look like either that you have posted.

How you doing btw? You coming to Don's this weekend?

Greg. Do you think there are a set of Cat made heavy duty guards available somewhere to fit my 5-roller rig?

Wally,
How about posting some pictures of your D2, so we can see what kind of track frames you have. The only track guards I have seen for the older five roller loader frames are the little ones that only protect the grease fitttings.

Greg,
I will not know know if I can make it to Don's bbq untill the last second. Did you ever work something out on the glow plugs/prechambers?

Josh,

Don found somebody local who supposedly was going to be able to machine out glow-plugs from pre-cups. Once Don got them back and was able to verify for himself he was going to post pictures and contact info for this machine shop. I have my fingers crossed. Don was supposed to get pre-cups back this week. Tractor is just waiting for those so it can go back together.

Hope you can make the BBQ. Rain should be liter than up at your place.

Josh. Re posting pictures, I am a computer greenhorn with no digital camera.

This D2 5U has a 17,000 series serial number.
