Many of the D2's I see in this forum have a piece of sheet metal with round holes mounted in front of the radiator to protect it from debris. They mostly seem to look the same which makes me think someone out there is making them.Anyone know where to get one?I have a 5J.

CAT made most of them.

My parts book shows 2 options
5b3820 radiator guard group which has side sheetmetal guards 6b3349/6b3350 (upper) and 5b3793/5b3794 (lower) as well as side support frames 5b3803/5b3804 that carry any impact load against the guard 5b3823 in front all the way back to the clutch housing

The other one 5b3826 is for use with the front bumper group 3F4737 that uses the same side supports and sheetmetal guards. It looks as if it's only different from the other one in that it is cut out at the bottom front for the bumper assembly 5b3805 to stick out beneath it.

These guards are both curved as you look down on them from the top. but stand perfectly straight up when you look at them from the side. The guards that cover the #44 hydraulic control groups installed on the U series D2's (and maybe the J's, but I haven't seen one with a factory installation) slant back at the top above the hydraulic tank as you look at them from the side.
D2-5J's, D6-9U's, D318 and D333 power units, 12E-99E grader, 922B & 944A wheel loaders, D330C generator set, DW20 water tanker and a bunch of Jersey cows to take care of in my spare time😄

Testimonials

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
