Decided today was the day to remove and service pony carb, clean cross passage etc and found the body to be broken. Very odd, will try to include pictures.
Any leads on a new body preferably down under would be appreciated.

Some more pictures
Top completely broken off.
Seems I've opened a can of worms. Previous owner must have some way damaged carb body.

I've seen the body brazed back together in various places and work fine. Might be an option for you.

If the D2 is a J, where the intake elbow bolts to the firewall, check for binding or misalignment as that will break a new body. There was a mod a member sported a long time back to insert a hose in the elbow to stop the breaking.

I have a D-4 with the pony motor and a 70 JD diesel with a pony motor and the carburetors sure look alike.Don't have them side by side to be sure but it might be an option.

After removing the two horizontal screws that hold the carb to the body what else holds the two items together?
Have done a quick search and read some old threads but can't get my head around it.
Thanks in advance

IIRC there is a thin walled brass tube/jet that goes into the cast iron body from the float chamber. . Be very careful as it can be broken easily. The whole carb comes off with 2 bolts one of which is under the float bowl. The bolt under the bowl is difficult. The carb has to be lifted as you take the bolt out. Take the entire unit off and soak in lacquer thinner.

Good luck

There's a long brass jet that runs through the cast body into the bowl. You have to pull it past the jet before you can pull it up.

If I remember right they are basically the same carb. I think the throttle linkage is opposite on the JD pony motors. The carb kits have many interchangeable parts.

Testimonials

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
