Hello guys

I am in need to remove my D2 oil pan in the bush to remove the Pistons. I have read the shop manual and have the rear of the tractor on blocks. I have the skid pan off and spring shackle loose. It's ready to lift the front of the motor up to release the shackle and pull the pan.
Here is my question.
I do not have an overhead method of lifting the motor. Where is a safe jack point? Can I push on the pan? The only place that looks safe is the radiator bracket bolted to the front of the motor but it's odd shape makes it difficult to get a good solid press point. My plan is to support the front of the engine with a chain stretched between the dozer blade beams.
Any advice on this would be greatly appreciated.

Not sure if its the same but on my J series, I put a 3/4 by 3 bar of flatstock across right where the radiator mounts to the block. When I was doing some work on the Undercarriage. I figured by spreading the stress across there. It shouldn't break anything. (it held fine). I can't remember the size of the tractor in an old photo but same idea as you. Stretch a chain across to hold the engine up!
When I had the Main spring out of my tractor, I blocked under the clutch housing and seem to think that I had a jack stand under the front as a safety??

Thanks drujinin,
The chain works good but I want to get it higher. I built a press jig out of a short piece of I-beam so I can apply pressure on the four bolt heads of the radiator bracket by cutting out reliefs for those ribs on the bracket. I'll press up on that with another 4 foot long beam until I can get two 18 blocks of maple under the beam just forward of the tracks. Then I'll set the engine and beam down on the blocks supporting the I- beam bridge at the ends. This should give me plenty of room to crawl under and safely remove the pan. I need the Pistons out before snow which will be coming to Wisconsin soon enough. Frost warnings tonight up here.

Down here too! Got weak Antifreeze in the Skidsteer due to a leaky water pump. Need to pray for warm Frost so as I can get that drained this weekend and get a new pump on order. Its coming and am thinking its going to be deep this year.

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
