As my continuing saga of getting my 5U orchard model back into shape unfolds I yet again have come across an impasse.

I have a bad oil leak at the base of the oil filter housing, oil flows out very quickly when the main engine is turning. Looking at the parts manual I see its held down with a screw #9F6704, I need to remove the screw to fix the leak but the screws is at the bottom of the housing and cant get any sort of wrench down to take it off.

Would anyone know what size that nut is? Theres got to be an extra deep socket that would do the trick, just dont know the size, looks to be around 1 1/2". Thanks! -Steven

a long tube spanner no idea what size it is. the outer tube that makes the housing i think is only pressed in and has a gasket underneath look in the parts book to confirm. might be able to remove it and then use a normal spanner

Are you sure it's not the two thin copper rings that seal the cap and base of the outer shell?

I believe the nut is 1 3/8''. Buy a cheap socket, cut it in half and weld a piece of pipe in between the the two halves. There is an o ring or quad ring at the base.

That part number is the same as the nuts in my D8 filter housing and it takes an 1 3/8" socket.

Thank you Phil for correcting me... I was relying on information posted on ACMOC years ago by another member. I went out and removed one of the cannister nuts and it is 1 3/8''.

My old notes shows the by-pass canister having a 1-1/2" nut and the full flow a 1-3/8" nut.

I made this one today out of a 35mm 3/4" drive socket. Seems to be a slightly tighter fit than the 1 3/8 but it was all the hardware store (Bunnings) had in stock.

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
