Just go to NAPA, they know the filter. One thing though you need to know if it is the original bypass or has it been converted to fullflow. The way to tell is the tightdown nut. It is a slotted nut or a t-handle. If a slotted nut it is a fullflow convert.
Thanks for the reply I have 2 1r-0659 filters in stock will they work on a 2 or no?
It's not that easy. There are five possible filter arrangements for the 3J.
Need to go by s/n.
Ooops, sorry for the incorrect info.
It is a 3j 5480 sp s/n and it has the T handle on the hold down assembly Thanks,Jason
my 1939 5J parts book shows element assembly 6B1851 or element 6B907 if that helps--this is 2 years older than your 3J
3J5480 originally used a by-pass filter (T-handle). Element 6B1851 is a screen and 6B907 is a replaceable element RPB Cat #1S9150 = Wix 51165
It is possible to convert 3J3445-up to full flow with the correct parts.
So I guess I will have to pull it apart to see what is inside the housing I think my 2t d4 has the brass screen in it. Thanks for your help, Jason
Yes, in this case it is the same as the 2T.
