Hey All,

I serviced my Cat last time I was at my ranch, but I forgot to check the lube in the finals. Looks like you check it and top it off with those big plugs on the back side of the housings. I do not have the tool, but it looks like a bolt can be made into the right size tool. Anyone know what size bolt I should weld on to socket or extension to create this tool?

Or - just jamb two nuts against each other on the bolt. Put the wrench on those to remove the plug

Place one Crescent wrench into the edge of the plug and V of the plug and use another crescent wrench on the first crescent wrench and open it up...

I just got a bolt with a slightly larger hex head and ground down the hex until it fit. Then grind a couple flats on the threaded portion and use a crescent wrench on that. The plugs usually aren't too tight.

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
