D2 Injection Pump

I have a couple of questions about removing the injection pump on a D2.

First off, how heavy is that sucker?

Should I remove the governor housing first and then the pump itself, or both as a unit? On a side note I believe that I have to remove the governor housing anyway to replace a seal. If I'm understanding Old Magnet correctly in this other post.

Not likely it is either one of those causes. If the transfer pump seals are leaking you will have fuel leaking from the drain line that drains the cavity between the transfer pump seals.

The most likely cause is a dried out seal between the fuel filter tower and the injection pump housing which will allow fuel to leak back into the sump.

In the picture it is the seal shown in the upper RH corner.
Part number is 6B4967
There is another same seal at the opposite end of the injection pump housing that should be replaced at the same time.[/quote]

Yes you can pull it as a complete unit, gov.and inj. housing and then you can change it.The camshaft has an off set tang (drive) so it can,t go on wrong.It,s not that heavy that you can,t handle it as I,ve removed lots of them on all the tractors with no problem lifting them and I,m not that big. while it,s off I,d change the lip oil seal that is at the camshaft drive in the front along with the fuel oil seals.

I got it out, but not without some hassles. The pin for the clevis to the governor arm was installed backwards. At least it looks backwards to me. So I had to take the front plate off the governor housing and disconect the rod from the gov. arm so I could get the pin out and disconected from the gov rod. See pic it will describe it better than I can.
