instead of perfection some times we just have to accept practicality
the pump is filled with the same oil as the crankcase.
it should not be diluted at all. maybe the pump needs rebuilding as the oil and fuel side are supposed to be separate. run it for a little while and see if the pump oil level changes. also check the crankcase level. and check for fuel smell. diluted engine oil can destroy bearings quickly.
fuel isnt a lubricant its a cutting agent. and modern ultra low sulphur fuel is even worse.

dont forget the oil in the starting clutch too. and the oil cups for the steering clutch levers and brake pedals they dont need much lube but just a little each time you run it.
Good timing on posting this, RHX! The startup/precheck video you mentioned is one I made a couple of years ago and I just finished doing some more work on that same D2 a few days ago. The injection pump oil in that D2 also had milky water contamination as you saw in the video, and I didn’t know where it had come from at the time of that recording but during the recent other repairs I found the culprit to be a bad seal around the auxiliary throttle lever/linkage pivot shaft on the side of the governor. A decent amount of water ran out of those throttle ratchet pawls when I had the governor assembly off, likely from that D2 having spent a couple years sitting out in the weather before I bought it. Another possible entry point could be a bad gasket under that rounded top cap that locks the high & low speed adjustment bolts in place on the top of the governor housing.

Hey, like a numbskull I finally realized I should check 'Notify me on this topic'.
Also, I DM/PM'd Deebo, not knowing who to DM exactly, about changing the topic name from D2 (cont) to 'D2 Fuel Pump has no oil, only fuel' or something of his choice that is more accurate. No change after several days. There must be a 'mod' who reads this, who can change the Subject.
(cont) was a temporary title in my head, while tying this thread back to the first one regarding the starter. I don't want a megathread of everything I find wrong or needs fixing. Seems much more useful to have a specific thread for each.
Even if, say, in this thread, oiling other surfaces as someone has mentioned, comes up, and then if I can't find adequate information on the forum (not that it does not exist), I will open a specific thread to cover / ask about what I cannot find on the forum and elsewhere online (like Squatch's videos, thanks!)
Thank you for all your responses. So far, I feel capable of tackling oiling the fuel pump sump - we have now some new Rotella T6 for that. That came with a standard 3 or 4-terminal key switch, and starter relay. For any specifics back on that wiring, the Starter, I will toss a video in, after I do that, in that existing Starter thread.
