OK, I know this isn't good, but I wonder if anyone else has experienced this? I'm looking for what degree of seriousness this maybe and how likely it is to fail completely. This crack doesn't look new and I have used this D2 to push gravel recently, didn't notice any problems with the clutch. We have a small cabin to move and were planning on using this D2 because it has a winch.

Never had one crack like that, it looks like a time bomb to me. You mentioned the likelihood of it failing completely, personally I would put in squarely in the "failed" column just as it already is. There's just something about the thought of shrapnel flying around inside a cast iron compartment that happens to be between my feet and legs that makes me a little nervous, lol.

Hey Bob, you were right, just 3 hours 40 minutes, and it's out.

Richard – there you go - piece of cake. If mine was a pre 1953 would still be trying to talk myself into the job. Something about the history – simplicity of design – the fact that it just keeps ticking and ticking – drives me to keep up the repairs. Bob

Testimonials

"I also joined a year ago. had been on here a couple of times as a non-member and found the info very helpful so I got a one year subscription (not very expensive at all) to try it out. I really like all the resources on here so I just got a three year. I think its a very small price for what you can get out of this site."
